This list is dedicated to discussion and peer-support of the Advantage™ Gen / COOL:Gen™ CASE tool developed & distributed by Computer Associates. This list has no connection with, and is not supported by, Computer Associates.

Advantage Gen / COOL:Gen was formerly owned by Texas Instruments and has previously been known as Composer, Composer By IEF and IEF (Information Engineering Facility).

There are not many rules here on the Advantage Gen Mailing List, but they are important:

1. *No* binaries or message attachments. Nada, zip, zilch! As with other lists binaries are expressly forbidden from being posted. The listserver will automatically remove any attachments you send. Action Diagram or Encyclopedia code however, is welcome and actively encouraged!
2. No chain letters. This is similar to the no binaries rule above. Posting a chain letter to the mailing list is cause for being banned, no matter what the topic of the letter is (fact: 99% of chain letters are hoaxes, especially letters from dying children).
3. No commercial advertisements of any sort. Period.
4. If you are are discussing an Advantage Gen-related product which you created, sell, support or otherwise have a monetary interest in please indicate so in your message.
5. Valid topics include discussion regarding add-on Advantage Gen products, 'how do I...' questions, action diagram coding, CBD techniques, COM / Java Proxy usage, integration with middleware etc. Off-topic messages will result in posting privileges being restricted.
6. Occasional posting by recruiters or sites seeking Advantage Gen personnel is acceptable. Please specify the job location, indicate if it is permanent or contract, duration of contract, skills required, visa requirements etc. Most importantly provide a contact email for potential candidates to contact you *directly*. Job candidates - see rule 1 above - your attached resume should be sent directly to a recruiter.

To change your subscription options or leave the list in the future, visit the manage subscription page. (Each list message contains a 'footer' with a pointer to this information so that you may find it again easily). Signing off the list is also a two-stage process so you will need to respond to the 'confirm unsubscription' message that is sent to your email address.

You must join the list in order to post. To post a message to the list after you have joined, send an email to coolgen@duick.com - it will be sent to all list participants. Just 'reply' to a posting to send an answer to a question/comment posed by another list member. Messages sent by the list contain [COOLGen] in the subject line to allow easy filtering/sorting by your email software.

Messages sent to the list are automatically archived. A web-based search facility allows you to search through previous postings.

Once you have joined the list you may visit the Manage Subscription page to adjust various aspects of your subscription. You must already be a list member to make the adjustments. Some list members use the 'digest' option to limit receipt of list messages to one message per day. Each list message contains a footer with pointers to this information.
